Description
The construction of this Castle is attributed to the famous architect Filippo Brunelleschi and is one of the most beautiful fortified structures in Tuscany. Located in the heart of the Florentine hills about 30 km from Florence and 50 from Siena, it was built in 1424 by the noble and prestigious Florentine Pucci family, and has hosted famous people, popes and kings, who have often chosen it as a location for major events: in the large hall there is still an epigraph that recalls the stay of Pope Paul III Farnese in 1541. The main body consists of a structure of approx. 3.000 sqm, which revolves around a large courtyard of historical charm, overlooking a Renaissance garden protected by the four towers with Guelph battlements. Inside there are numerous frescoed reception rooms and a part dedicated to offices and receptions, while the suites are located on the upper floors. The castle, immersed in the magnificent Tuscan countryside, is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards which allow the modern and efficient agricultural estate to produce extra virgin olive oil and wines of great value processed in the historic cellars. In the 1.200 hectares that make up this estate, unique in its kind, there is a village with 25 farmhouses and a historic Renaissance villa, with a noble chapel with frescoed halls. The buildings on the property are currently in need of renovation, except for one where agritourism activity is carried out with 10 apartments.
The property is located on the Tuscan hills a few kilometers from the famous Etruscan city of Volterra and the medieval city of San Gimignano, both famous throughout the world and a destination for many tourists. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The Castle is easily reachable from the airports of Florence (45 km) and Pisa (62 km),
